Men of Scars Men of Scars was founded by Hardie Blake,
a pastor, community activist and entrepreneur in the community for over 30 years. Out of a desire to help men with "pasts"
that sometimes hinders their future, he began the outreach to men & boys with scarred pasts.
As a role model and mentor, Pastor Blake works tirelessly assisting men with
such issues as employment, job training, empowerment training, personal counseling, court issues and support in setting and
accomplishing goals. Men of Scars presently has one Street Outreach Worker, Shane Peters,
who serves as a mentor as well as a facilitator in various empowerment training sessions. The Men of Scars Outreach approach
to transforming the lives of men whose past or present life has been scarred by anger, drugs, crime, violence, incarceration,
gangs, felony convictions, delinquent child support, abandonment, school dropout and minimum spiritual and social skills is
a work in process. Through effective training and caring guidance and help, the lives of boys & men can be transformed
and given opportunity to help transform the lives of other men. "Success is for those who want it and take
action to get it."
