Job Creation

BEE.gif     One such business is BEE.  BEE, the acronym stands for “Building Economic Empowerment”, is an apparel manufacturing company that shares Project Impact’s vision of building economic development from within.  Their slogan is “Putting America Back to Work One Stitch at a Time”.  Project Impact has entered into a test to see if working with BEE will lead to jobs, new skills and entrepreneurship in our community as we hope.  We emphasize that this is a test, and we invite all residents interested in participating in the test to come work with us.

BEE has agreed to bring professional quality equipment and a master tailor to provide training for those interested, at no cost.  While that training is very valuable, it is no guarantee of employment.  Project Impact Participants and members will receive priority in any opportunities that develop as a result of this business.

In December BEE conducted an Orientation and Information session at Project Impact.   In that session people were told about what was seen as the potential for creating jobs through a partnership with BEE and asked who wanted to participate.  Because there was strong interest, PISB agreed to provide space for BEE to set up equipment and begin training.

BEE agreed to waive any fees for training.  They are providing sewing training free of charge to those who are interested.  There is no charge for the training and no guarantee of employment.  Priority will be given to those trained as orders begin to come in. Those interested in coming in for training should call James Summers and they will be scheduled to come in.

We anticipate the manufacturing to be up and running by the end of February.  There are no paid orders at this time, only prospective orders.  We are developing the plan to bring in people for sales training, but do not have a start date for that training at this time.  As opportunities develop Project Impact members and those who have received Job Readiness Training through Project Impact will receive first priority for consideration.   Any and all questions should be directed to James Summers.  If you have questions, submit them in the form below.  Or call (574) 232-1311 and leave a brief message and a number where we can reach you.

This is the first of what we hope to be many efforts to bring job opportunities directly to our community.  We know that our process is not refined and not perfect.  Working together, we hope to develop a process that works for the people of our community.  While creating a process is messy and at times frustrating, we have to do something NOW.  People are hungry NOW.  People need opportunities NOW.  Waiting for others to bring opportunity to our community is not an effective alternative.  Project Impact is working to create solutions NOW.  We invite you to join us and develop solutions for our community that work for us… NOW.
