What is Discovering the Bend?
Discovering the Bend (DTB) is an ongoing exploration that encourages us to learn about the rich contributions of all of Michiana’s people. DTB utilizes the StriveOn™ mobile app to identify places throughout the community, visit them, learn about their history, and share the experience and knowledge with our family and friends. It's a family friendly experience that encourages healthy exercise, social distancing, and personal enrichment. Using DTB encourages residents and visitors to learn about the diverse richness of our community through our diversity treasure hunts while enjoying all of the benefits of the community. There are many ways to do this, but StriveOn collects content from various sources and puts that information at your fingertips to enhance enjoyment. It also provides the user the opportunity to share with others their experiences in a personalized way. DTB is free to use. |

How does it work?
To make this fun, we've populated the app with walking/hiking trails, scavenger hunts and other points of interest. These points of interest will be expanded daily based on user requests. To encourage learning about the contributions to the community of diverse groups, scavenger hunt activities are at the core of how the app is being utilized to encourage engagement. The intended outcome is that we all come to appreciate the unity of our community and our country and value the contributions of those whom we now see as different from us. It also becomes a tool of pride in the contributions of our many diverse people.
